Newsflash: Dakota Fanning is NOT an adult, Marc Jacobs!

The newest trend for fashion designers? Dress underage models – I mean really underage – in adult clothing lines.
Closer to home, Jacobs has just wrapped production on his upcoming Spring 2007 Collection campaign, photographed by Juergen Teller in Los Angeles, which, in a dramatic turn, features 12-year-old Charlotte’s Web star Dakota Fanning. The actress was shot in a wardrobe of custom-made pieces due to her petite size.
Does anyone else besides me find this trend gravely disturbing? She’s petite because she’s 12 YEARS OLD, PEOPLE, not because she’s starving herself to death.
