Britney Loses Her Kids - megapost update
Okay. So Britney Spears has lost physical custody of her kids to ex-husband Kevin Federline. Here’s a roundup of what’s been going on in the last 24 hours:
Why did Britney Spears lose custody of her kids?: Uh, have you MET Britney? Well, other than the obvious trainwreck reasons, she absolutely defied the judge’s orders, completely ignoring what he had told her was supposed to happen in order for her to keep her kids:
Britney Spears must hand over custody of her sons to Kevin Federline this week “until further order of the court,” a judge ruled Monday after a closed-door hearing…..According to court documents, released earlier today, KFed “is to retain physical custody of the minor children on Wednesday October 3, 2007 at 12:00 pm until further order of the court.
Dr. Drew (big radio show guy) spoke out on how he thinks Britney is going to handle all of this:
Add up the score. Forget Britney Spears, let’s say it’s Britney Smith,” said Pinsky. “Britney Smith had a horrible divorce, Britney Smith has a stressful career, Britney Smith probably has postpartum depression, Britney Smith is in trouble. And that’s Britney Spears.”
And what happens when you take away the biggest heart-tugging anchors in her life, Sean Preston and Jayden James?
“If you add to all that the loss of child custody, you have somebody who will become suicidal, I’m totally convinced.”
Here’s a video of Britney’s children in tears before the judge’s ruling:
And here’s a video of Britney just HOURS after she gave up custody to Kevin. She doesn’t look that upset, does she? This is like a dream come true for her.
Here’s more legal stuff that talks about the ruling:
“Respondent’s oral motion pursuant to section 214FC is granted and the matter proceeds as a closed hearing. The court and all parties present confer on the record that the court makes its order as fully reflected in the notes of the official court reporter. The court’s prior order including the orders made on September 28, 2007 remain in full force and effect with the following modification: Respondent is to retain physical custody of the minor children on Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 at 12 PM until further order of the Court. Respondent’s ex-parte application is noticed for October 3, 2007 at 1:30 PM in Department 88.”
How did Britney react when she heard the news that she had lost custody? Here’s how:
According to an inside source, the “reformed rehabber” was totally emotionless and continued on her day-to-day duties after being informed that her sons would be residents of Fed-Ex. Spears had until 12 p.m. Wednesday to hand her baby boys over, but apparently the “Crazy” crooner has done so already.

Yeah, why wait? I mean, if you’ve got the opportunity to party hard without having a couple of brats around your neck, why not?
Now, we all know that Kevin Federline is not exactly up for father of the year. But we also know that Britney Spears is completely not ready to be a mother. Do you think she orchestrated this whole thing? I tend to believe yes, she did:
Now Sean and Jayden will be accessorizing their father — a man with no real job or discernable talents. And as distressing as that might be, right now it’s the best thing for those kids. At least K-Fed has enough sense to leave the kids with the nanny before he hits the club.
As for Spears, let’s pray that she uses this time away from her kids to reassess her priorities in life and grow up. At 25, she is obviously too young and immature to be anyone’s mother. I think she knows that and that’s why I believe that she totally orchestrated this whole episode.
I think losing her kids is exactly what she wanted. Sean and Jayden were getting in the way of her fun. What she might not realize now is that she lost the two people in the world who probably loved her unconditionally.
And finally, here are the reasons why she lost her kids (officially):
Britney Spears temporarily lost custody because she was accused of not taking a random drug and alcohol test and she couldn’t provide a California driver’s license, her lawyer tells PEOPLE.
After a closed-door hearing Monday, a judge ordered that, from Wednesday, Kevin Federline gets physical custody of Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, “until further order of the court.”
L.A. Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon didn’t outline his reasons in the written ruling, but Spears’s attorney, Sorrell Trope, says, “We weren’t able to prove compliance with what the judge ordered.”
“Specifically,” Trope says, “the judge ordered that by 10 a.m. (Monday) morning, both parties show valid California driving licenses. I’ve been unable to produce evidence of that.”
Later Monday, after handing over her sons to a bodyguard of Federline’s, Spears applied for a California driver’s license in Van Nuys.
Spears, 25, has been charged with misdemeanor driving without a valid license and hit-and-run following a fender-bender in a store parking lot on Aug. 6.
Trope says another reason behind the judge’s temporary custody ruling “was a claim by Mr. Federline’s attorney that she had not complied with a previous order the court had made – before I came on board (as lawyer) – about having a random drug and alcohol test.”
Trope adds: “There’s no evidence that she actually failed a test.”
However, the courts see the failure to take a test as the same thing as not passing the test.
Another hearing is set for Wednesday.
Federline’s attorney declined to comment in detail on the court proceeding. But a source close to Federline says he was “thrilled” after receiving news of the temporary custody change.

So! There you have it. Somewhat sad, but at least those kids are in a good place now.
