British reality show star Jade Goody has passed away after a short battle with cancer
March 23, 2009 by Wendy Boswell
British reality TV show star (she was on “Big Brother”) Jade Goody has passed away this weekend after a short battle with cervical cancer. She was only 27, can you believe it?!?!? What is with this week and people dying, huh? What makes it really sad is that she left two little boys behind. Lots of people didn’t like Jade because of the idiotic way she conducted herself on the show, but once she left she seemed to get her head on straight, plus she was very brave in how she handled the cancer. 27, gosh, that’s soooooo young!

January 30, 2009 by Wendy Boswell
Yesterday, there was a big report that Patrick Swayze had ended his cancer treatment. However, today he is (thankfully) announcing that this is NOT TRUE! Here’s what he has to say:
“The reports are not true. Patrick is continuing his treatment,” said Annett Wolf. (rep)

PHEW! Well, let’s keep those positive thoughts and prayers coming his way, shall we?
Patrick Swayze has ended his cancer treatment
January 29, 2009 by Wendy Boswell
Some sad news from the Patrick Swayze camp: he’s ending his cancer treatment and the doctors have basically done all they can do at this point. Here’s what a family friend had to say:
“There’s nothing more doctors can do for him. We are down to the wire and the goal now is to keep Patrick comfortable. His condition is inoperable and they have stopped the chemo. He’s still losing weight and he’s very weak. He’s taking morphine. That and the cigarettes seem to keep him functioning through the pain.”
Sad! Well, let’s have a look at Patrick in his happier days, shall we?

January 20, 2009 by Wendy Boswell
Bad news for the Desperate Housewives star. Marcia Cross’s husband, Tom Mahoney, has been diagnosed with cancer. No word on exactly what kind of cancer it is as yet, just that he is responding to treatment and doing well. The couple have twin daughters together, Eden and Savannah.
Patrick Swayze talks about the cancer

Actor Patrick Swayze talked about his cancer and what he’s currently going through with Barbara Walters this week. Here’s what he had to say:
“You can bet that I’m going through hell,” Swayze says to Walters. “And I’ve only seen the beginning of it.”
“There’s a lot of fear here,” he adds. “There’s a lot of stuff going on. Yeah, I’m scared. Yeah, I’m angry. Yeah, I’m [asking] why me. Yeah, I’m all this stuff.”

He also added how he found out he was suffering from cancer: he tried to have some champagne on New Year’s Eve, and it felt like he was drinking acid (fun, right?). And the intestinal issues just started following right on top of each other: he couldn’t eat, was having massive pain, and he lost twenty pounds just like that. How scary! Last I heard, his body is responding well to treatment, so hopefully we’ll have him around for a while longer.
Christina Applegate has had a double mastectomy!
August 19, 2008 by Wendy Boswell
Well, last week I told you that Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer. This week, she has revealed that she has undergone a complete breast mastectomy, which means that both of her breasts are completely gone.
Apparently, she has a very aggressive breast cancer gene that makes her more susceptible to breast cancer, and since she does have a family history, she decided to go the very aggressive route, rather than waiting.
Here’s how Christina is handling things right now:
“Sometimes, you know, I cry and sometimes I scream and I get really angry and I get really like, you know, into wallowing in self-pity sometimes,” she said. “And I think that’s _ it’s all part of healing, and anyone who’s going through it out there, it’s OK to cry. It’s OK to fall on the ground and just scream if you want to.”

She is going to have breast reconstructive surgery in the next 8 months or so, so she’s in for quite the ordeal. Amazing.
