Hold on to your hats - Cynthia Nixon is engaged to longtime girlfriend Christine Marinoni. She announced her engagement at a rally for gay rights in New York City over the weekend. Congratulations to the happy couple - hopefully they can, you know, ACTUALLY GET MARRIED. Cynthia is getting ready to film the sequel to the Sex and the City movie, which honestly, even though I love me some SATC, I think it’s maybe time to hang it up? The movie was a good way to end the franchise, but a second one….feels like beating a dead horse to me.

Yep, it’s true - Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick are expecting twins, not naturally, but with a surrogate mother. The twins are expected this summer. Sooo, I guess it’s time to reset the Parker-Broderick Divorce Countdown Timer? Because babies ALWAYS make relationships so much better!!!!

So yes, I realize that Charlotte is not in this picture but I looked for like three minutes an HOUR and I couldn’t find a picture that included all of them and GOOD LORD JUST GET OFF MY BACK.

Anywhodles, our favorite fo’ ho’s will be coming back in Sex and the City the Movie 2 on May 28, 2010. I’m guessing that one of them AT LEAST has to be getting some hot flashes or estrogen issues by now, right? I love me some SATC but at some point we all need to recognize that the aging process comes to all of us and one of us especially is looking, shall we say, a little horsey, and it might be a good idea to stop wearing our hair pulled back so tight from our faces. I’m not naming any names Carrie, because I’m a good person, but I thought it was important to get that out there.

So all of us who are fans of Sex and the City were excited to hear that we were going to get another movie, right? Except listen to what is being rumored as the storyline. You might want to breathe really deeply and go to your happy place, because seriously, this will PISS. YOU. OFF.

Are you there? Happy place? Okay:

Big loses his bazillions and has to move to London in a one-bedroom apartment. While there he cheats on Carrie and after she flies home to NYC after confronting him, she finds out she’s pregnant. OF COURSE.

There’s so many things wrong with this that I don’t really know where to begin, honestly. First of all, Big losing his money. We don’t want to see Big without money, because frankly we’re materialistic and that’s a huge part of his appeal - that he can jet off all over the world at a moment’s notice and buy Carrie $500 pairs of shoes. Second, sersly - cheating? Didn’t we kind of already do that with Steve and Miranda? And third, Carrie is too old to get pregnant. She looks like someone’s Nana. I’m sorry, but it needs to be said.

What do you think of this rumored storyline? I doubt this is the real one, but it’s fun to speculate. What would your perfect SATC storyline be?

So we all know that there’s going to be another “Sex and the City” movie at this point, right? The first one was so wildly successful that the powers that be are hoping to duplicate that. Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays the character of Carrie, gave a teensy bit of information about the new flick yesterday:
“”I think we want this one to be a romp. The last one, we got to tell a really mature sophisticated story that had real heartbreak in it, and this time, I think we want a romp. We want our audience to have a massive romp.”
I’m trying to figure out what a “romp” is, and how this would be different from the first one? Carrie…uh, I mean Sarah, also wants us to all know that he movie intends to be more sensitive to the current financial crisis, which will be pretty dang hard considering they all dress in Prada, Gucci, and Armani on a daily basis. Shoot, I think even their jammies had a designer label on them. And remember that scene at the end of the movie where Samantha (Kim Cattrell) had her little horndog humping that pillow, and Carrie mentioned that the pillow cost $300? Yes. $300 for ONE PILLOW. I think that’s pretty sensitive, don’t you? Oh, yeah. Let’s watch the trailer for the first one, shall we?

Sarah also mentioned that she’s not going to give away any details, especially about her and Mr. Big. Personally, I think she’s going to get pregnant by in vitro or something similar, or Miranda’s going to have another baby, or maybe even Samantha’s going to have a baby. SOMEBODY’S going to have a baby.

In related “Sex and the City” news, rumor has it that there’s going to be a prequel, with Miley Cyrus as young Carrie. Wait, what? WHAT? This Miley?

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick went out for a night on the town last night (pictured above) and decided to address the constant rumors that surround them regarding the marriage being a farce, a scam, kaput. Here’s what Sarah had to say:

“We don’t even bother to address them,” Parker told reporters, adding that the best part of being married is “being married.”

If I was a celebrity, I would get SO TIRED of the constant inquiries into my personal life. They’ve been married for a long time, they’re obviously happy, for pete’s sake let it go!

According to Kim Cattrell, there WILL be another Sex and the City movie! SWEEETT! Here’s what she had to say:

Asked point blank, “Will there be a sequel?” Cattrall replied emphatically, “Yes there will!”

Now, according to eOnline, Warner Brothers IS planning another movie, set for NEXT SUMMER!

“They’re in negotiations,” a rep for Warner Brothers Studios has just confirmed to us…….”
We will do the sequel next summer. We wanted to the first time, and now we’re hopefully doing it again for the second time.”

Oh, man! Time for me to watch the first movie for the fifth time, I’m thinking!

So there might be a Sex and the City sequel, but so far, we’re not hearing much about it. Today’s quote from Sarah Jessica doesn’t do much to help, either:

“It’s all about the story. If we can’t tell a story that’s really worthy of an audience, then we won’t do it.

“We’ve been really lucky at this point,” she continued. “We’ve been in people’s good graces for a long time, and we take that very seriously. So that’s the biggest challenge, the story.”

And Cynthia Nixon had a couple words to say as well:

“I would love to see her and Carrie and Charlotte and Samantha all go off on some wild mad cap adventure somewhere,” she said.

I would love, LOVE to see a SATC sequel, but I don’t know how much more they could squeeze out of this, other than Carrie having a kid. What do you think?

So I’m a huge fan of Sex and the City, but even I know when to call it when Candace Bushnell, the author of SATC, has jumped the shark BUT GOOD.

Apparently, she is hard at work writing the story of Carrie Bradshaw when she was in high school. Ugh. Gag me with a spoon. So will these lovely SATC teen thrillers be shelved right next door to Twilight and Harry Potter? Should we look for the stars of the inevitable SATC “The Teen Years” on Hannah Montana and iCarly?

Yes, it’s been confirmed that Warner Brothers and New Line are actually already working on filming the second Sex and the City movie. Here’s what they had to say:

“There is enormous interest” by Warner Bros., Michael Lombardo, president of the HBO programming group, told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles. “And I think, in fact, they’re trying, with our help, to put that together now. When that happens, how long between, can’t say. But there’s absolutely interest.” - source

Seriously, people. I watch SATC every day during my workout, and I Love. This. Show. And I loved the movie - totally awesome. How do you feel about this news? Probably not as squigged out as I am, but maybe you are!
